A little rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of over 1,000 Phoenix Children’s supporters on March 1st, as they came together for an unforgettable night of fun and philanthropy at the 21st Annual Beach Ball.
Guests arrived at The Phoenician Resort wearing their Malibu Best, donning everything from board shorts and flip flops to flowing maxis and stilettos.
As they mixed and mingled, attendees worked their way through the Beach Ball 2014 Silent Auction, acquiring some great items before heading into the Ballroom for the remainder of the evening. After being greeted by dancers and enjoying a delicious meal, guests got into the spirit of the evening by bidding on live auction items that included travel packages, golf outings and invitations to exclusive events like the Country Music Awards and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition Launch Party.
Guests were moved by the patients and families and responded in a big way, contributing a record-breaking amount, including two donors who gave $25,000 each and received handmade gifts from Trinity and Brett.
Recording artist Jordin Sparks shared a heartfelt tribute before giving a stellar performance of her song Faith, which she dedicated to our patients battling cancer. DJ Lucy closed out the evening by spinning the latest hits, even dedicating a Katy Perry song to Trinity – our own super star who’s currently battling osteosarcoma.
In true form, our amazing donors made it a night for the record books. Beach Ball, co-chaired by Paula Wichterman and Mirav Bradshaw, raised over $1 million to benefit the Ronald A. Matricaria Institute of Molecular Medicine at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. With the continued support of the community we will make great strides towards curing childhood cancer.
