On a beautiful spring day on Sunday, March 26, at Warehouse 215 @ Bentley Projects in Phoenix, twenty three of the most stylish kids around walked the runway for the 4th Annual Downright Beautiful Fashion Show. Models wore the latest spring styles featured from Dillard’s children and junior departments and had their hair and makeup done by stylists from Rolf’s Salon. Each one of these models was or is a current patient of the Pediatric Down syndrome Clinic at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, and this year’s event raised over $34,000 for the Clinic. Models were introduced on the runway by the event’s emcee, ABC15 News anchor, Katie Raml.
During the program, which was attended by over 200 people, Amy Silverman, Managing Editor of the Phoenix New Times, spoke on her personal experience as a parent of a child with Down syndrome. Amy even read an excerpt from her recently released published book, “My Heart Can’t Even Believe It,” written about her daughter Sophie, whom was one of the models in the fashion show this year.
The Downright Remarkable award was presented this year to the deserving Sarah Davis, who runs the Believe I Can Academy. The Believe I Can Academy is a program that provides advocacy, seminars and provides tutoring for families with a child with Down syndrome. The award was presented by Downright Beautiful Co-Chairs, Diane Hastings and Laura Chapnek.
The 4th Annual Downright Beautiful Fashion could have not been possible without its ten dedicated committee members planning this event. Thank you to our supportive partners; Hastings & Hastings, Nordstrom, Wells Fargo, Ensemble Real Estate Solutions, Larry John Wright Inc., AmeriPark Valet, Rolfs, Kendra Scott and Dillard’s for your support to putting on another successful year!
