At Phoenix Children’s Hospital we’re concerned not just with the quality of our patients’ medical treatment but also with the quality of their overall lives; this means making sure they get time to just be kids. Many of our patients spend weeks or even months receiving life-saving treatment in hospital. Each summer we like to help some of those kids experience the magic of Camp Rainbow but we need your help to make the dream of summer camp a reality for our patients and their families.

Camp Rainbow - Contribute NowFor one week each summer, Camp Rainbow is PCH’s home-away-from-home for more than 120 kids living with cancer and blood disorders. For one week, kids ages 7 to 18 get to let loose, meet other kids dealing with the same issues they are experiencing, have fun, and still receive quality medical care from patients, nurse practitioners and registered nurses.

Camp is held at Camp Friendly Pines in beautiful Prescott, Arizona. There, kids can fish, go horseback riding, canoe, play sports, swim, do arts and crafts and even spend a night sleeping underneath the stars. Of course there are campfires, games, and each year a dance for all the campers to make memories that will last a lifetime. For a week the campers get to just be themselves and not have to worry about being cancer patients. The memories and friendships that the kids make each summer at Camp Rainbow help them get through the difficult times of their treatment and recoveries. We like to think of it as “one week that lasts forever.”

Here’s where you come in. Camp Rainbow is completely free of charge to our patients’ families. Much of the staff is made up of volunteers. In fact, several counselors are former campers themselves. We simply wouldn’t be able to host Camp Rainbow each year without the generous support of donors like you. Please support Camp Rainbow through our Indiegogo campaign here.  With your help, we can keep providing kids with the life-saving treatment they deserve and the warm and fun memories they need to keep their bodies, minds and spirits going.
