We have kicked 2015 off with a stupendous start! On January 31st we were thrilled to benefit from Blacklight Run Phoenix. Proceeds from the run — and the Foam Glow Run and Ultra Violet Run held earlier in 2014 — helped raise $125,000 for Phoenix Children’s Hospital!
It seems like we hear about a new charity race almost every day: mud runs, haunted runs, color runs, and so many other variations. These races help raise awareness and donations for important causes and do so in a way that also helps the participants show their support for a healthy lifestyle. Blacklight Run has turned the traditional charity fun-run on its head and was recently named one of the world’s “11 coolest themed runs” by CNN.
During Blacklight Runs, each participant literally glows with the excitement that comes from doing good deeds (plus lots and lots of glow powder). Participants are given white T-shirts and during the 5K race, they’re covered in neon glow powder. Along the way there are sections of black lights to help our runners glow. If that’s not enough glow-time, each participant is invited to attend a super fun Blacklight Run After Party so they can really see themselves shine.
An amazing total of 4,000 runners participated in Blacklight Run Phoenix on the evening of January 31st at Goodyear Ballpark. As you can see from the pics below that were taken during the event, a good time was had by all. We’d like to send a special thanks to each person that participated and for the amazing donations made to Phoenix Children’s Hospital Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders.
If you missed out on the fun but would still like to donate to the Center or to the other world-class pediatric programs we have here at PCH, please donate now. And be sure to stay tuned for other fun ways you can show your support for the lifesaving work done at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.
