Kaelyn was a happy and healthy 4 month old when she suffered a debilitating grand mal seizure. She spent 18 days in the Intensive Care Unit in a Pentobarbital induced coma while Neurologists and other specialists scrambled to find a solution to her continuing seizures.
Despite the challenges of her diagnosis, Quadriplegia Spastic Cerebral Palsy, Kaelyn’s spirit is stronger now than ever. With an early success from a VNS implant placed by PCH, her seizure activity was eliminated. Her family has focused on a grueling rehabilitation routine, including physical, hippo, occupational, speech, and neurosuit intensive therapy
The Inaugural Tour de Ren will honor Kaelyn and similar patients of Phoenix Children’s Hospital. All proceeds from the downtown spin cycle event will be donated to Phoenix Children’s Hospital in efforts to support ongoing initiatives to find a cure and treatment for Cerebral Palsy amongst other diagnosis. Tour de Ren organizers are seeking donations, sponsorships, and attendees to come watch teams of cyclists spin off for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. This high energy event will include a DJ, health fair vendors, and teams of cyclists spinning to benefit the Hospital.
Tour de Ren will be held on April 7, 2017 from 3-5 PM on the northeast corner of Washington Street and Central Avenue in front of Renaissance Square located at 2 N. Central Ave. This high energy event will include a DJ, health fair vendors, and teams of cyclists spinning to generate proceeds for Phoenix Children’s Hospital
