Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation hosted the 2016 American Girl Fashion Show on Saturday, November 5th and Sunday, November 6th at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort and Spa.
A total of four shows were produced over the course of the weekend featuring all together 240 models walking the runway with their look-a-like American Girl Doll. All of the models were “dolled” up by Paul Mitchell Salon and their fantastic stylists.
In a tea-type setting, in front of 250 attendees per show guests enjoyed fashions that reflected the American Girl History and culture, as well as girl’s individual styles. During the show guests were narrated by young adult girl emcees, who introduced the various fashions include the newest BeForever doll Melody and the Girl of the Year, Lea! Guests were also introduced to the newest set of dolls the WellieWishers whom were created for girls 5 and up. To view photos of the event, please visit Dana Gibbons Photography.
Prior to the show guests indulged in the Market Place where Dillard’s Mae & Marie, Pinspiration, Lula Roe, Basically Bows & Bowties and CADesigns sold miscellaneous items catered to young girls and mothers. In the Market Place, guests had the opportunity to win various raffle prizes such as a brand new Melody Doll, a WellieWisher or the grand prize The Girl of The Year, Lea with various accessories included in her package!
During the program guests got to meet Mia and Brooke both patients of Phoenix Children’s Hospital who frequently utilized the services at The Emily Center. Mia’s mom discussed how valuable the information was provided to her during her daughter’s battle through cancer. Brooke’s mom talked about how grateful she is for the ongoing support and assistance the center provides her for Brooke’s diagnosis of Aicardi Syndrome.
All the proceeds from the American Girl Fashion Show will go to support The Emily Center at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The Emily Center is the largest pediatric family health library in the Southwest. The Emily Center provides resources to more than 87,000 families a year. Leading up to the show all models were encouraged to participate in the Model Challenge, this year all of the models collectively raised over $23,000! The center is solely supported by community funds and this year the American Girl Fashion Show raised over $92,000 total for the center!!
