“Sleeping like a baby” should be peaceful and restorative. Sadly, some 3,500 infants in the U.S. lose their lives each year due to accidental suffocation, asphyxia or undetermined causes during sleep. Too many families endure these tragedies, so Phoenix Children’s offers resources and awareness campaigns around prevention.
There is no known way to prevent SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). But, there are ways to reduce risks: place babies on their backs to sleep during naps and nighttime; use firm sleep surfaces such as a safety-approved cribs covered by fitted sheets; and refrain from putting infants to sleep in adult beds, couches, or chairs. Your donations help Phoenix Children’s champion safe sleeping habits for our most vulnerable population.
