How can my child become a model?

If you have a child with Down syndrome and know they would love to be a part of the show, please fill out the Model Inquiry form on our website and a model application will be emailed to you.

Does my child need to be a current patient of the Down Syndrome Clinic at Phoenix Children’s Hospital to be a model?

No, your child does not need to be a current patient of the clinic to participate. We welcome all supporters and families with a child of Down syndrome.

How and when will I know if my child was selected as a model?

Once models have been selected by the committee, an email will be sent out late summer regarding model selection. Please be sure to clearly write your email on the application as that will be what we use for the majority of communication.

What will models wear?

We are currently working with sponsors to secure fashions for each model participating in the show. There will be an outfit selection date after the model has been chosen, models may select and keep their fashions.

Will there be a rehearsal in advance of the show?

A Media Preview Day, which serves as a rehearsal for all of the models will be held on Wednesday, October 17 at Warehouse 215@ Bentley Projects (215 E. Grant St., Phoenix, AZ 85004. Time to be announced at a later date.

How far in advance do I need to bring my child the day of the fashion show?

Model should be dressed in their fashion show outfit and back stage no later than an hour and a half prior to the show.

Will there be a hair stylist or do we arrive to the show with hair done?

We are working to recruit a hair salon to donate their services for the day of to do all of our models hair so they can rock the runway in style.  An email will be sent out to parents when we have received confirmation of our stylists.

How long will the show be?

The program/fashion show portion of the event begins at 12:00 pm and will be over by 1:00pm. Prior to the fashion show a reception will be held with a silent auction and heavy passed hors d’oeuvres.

Should models bring their own snacks and water?

A meal and water will be provided for the models but if you would like to bring a specific snack for your child, you are more than welcome to do so.

How can I volunteer to help with the event?

We would love to have supporters volunteer at this event especially if you are familiar with having a child with Down syndrome, please email Alyssa Snow asnow1@phoenixchildrens.com if you would like to volunteer at this year’s event.

Who is the photographer and how can I see the pictures taken from the show?

Pictures will be shared on the dsfashionshow.org website post event on our flicker page.
