When a child faces a medical emergency, every second counts. Inside the new, state-of-the-art Simulation Center at Phoenix Children’s Hospital – Thomas Campus, clinical teams have a dedicated space to practice both high-risk scenarios and routine moments in a safe, controlled environment. Designed to replicate an actual hospital, this advanced facility uses ultra-realistic technology to hone skills and clinical confidence—ensuring the safest possible outcomes for young patients.

BEDSIDE MANNERS & BEYOND

Acute-care suites allow clinical teams—such as nurses, resident physicians and fellows—to sharpen clinical decision-making, patient triage and bedside manner in everyday inpatient scenarios.

MEET THE ‘PATIENTS’

Highly realistic, computerized manikins mimic actual human responses. They blink, breathe and have heartbeats and vital signs to test team preparedness.

BEHIND THE MIRROR

From a central control room hidden behind a one-way mirror, simulation operators alter the manikins’ vital signs to challenge learners under pressure.

CRITICAL CARE, CLONED

Specialized intensive-care suites simulate pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, where clinical teams practice complex care, such as trauma, seizure management and emergency resuscitations.

ROOM TO REFLECT

After the simulations, dedicated debriefing rooms provide a safe environment where teams review video recordings to discuss what went well and how to improve.
