Landon was born on May 9, 2017. He made everyone happy, and his smile was absolutely contagious. He would smile so big and then fall in for an all-encompassing hug with his favorite people. Despite being nonverbal, Landon communicated his joy to others through his squeals and laughs. He showed positivity to everyone he worked with: parents, teachers, nurses, doctors, therapists, and caregivers. Landon met every challenge head-on and was eager to show off the skills those who worked with him helped develop. Landon was a charming goofball and made friends wherever he went!

At four months old, Landon was diagnosed with epileptic spasms, which had a significant impact on his development. He became a regular at Phoenix Children's Hospital through pediatric epilepsy monitoring unit (PEMU) stays, magnetic resonance imaging scans (MRIs), functional MRIs, electroencephalograms (EEGs), and regular visits with his neurology team. Landon also underwent major brain surgery and had a vagus nerve stimulator (VNS) implanted to try to control his seizures.

While on extended stays at PCH, Landon and his family were entirely focused on his health and wellness. Fortunately, they are local to the Phoenix area and could have friends and family drop off food, clean clothes, toys, etc. This eased some of the stress faced while Landon was cared for at PCH. Landon thrived with this additional support system in place for him and his family.

Just a month after his fifth birthday, Landon tragically and unexpectedly passed away. In honor of Landon and to assist other children facing similar health challenges, the Landon's Legacy Endowment Fund was established by his family. Its goal is to continue to spread the love that Landon showed us all by supporting the patient and family assistance fund within the epilepsy program at Phoenix Children’s.
