Iralyn's journey with Phoenix Children's began when she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder, at age 1. Since then, this vibrant, spirited teenager and her family have tried a range of treatment options to manage her symptoms and give her the best quality of life.

After undergoing genetic testing, Iralyn learned that her condition resulted from a genetic mutation. With that knowledge came an exciting new possibility for her: gene therapy, a new treatment approach that has the potential to address the root cause of her symptoms at the genetic level.
