In 2020, Perla was diagnosed with a neurological condition that caused her to lose all motor function, including the use of her arms and legs. But this didn’t stop her—she was determined to be able to dance at her quinceañera, a special 15th birthday celebration in Latino culture that marks a girl’s passage from childhood to adulthood.
