GivingTuesday is a day when generous people look for ways to show their giving gratitude. But many people aren’t aware that Stock Monday is another great way to make the most of year-end donations

If you’re looking to maximize your year-end giving impact, celebrate Stock Monday this year by bringing the magic of hope to children this holiday season. Giving the gift of stock is one of the smartest ways to give—and it benefits you while supporting our patients and their families.

Here’s why:

  • You can save money. When you transfer stock directly to a charity/nonprofit of your choice instead of selling the stock to give cash, you save money. You give more at no additional cost because, when you donate appreciated stock, you avoid capital gains tax on the growth in your stock’s value. You can also deduct 100% of the total current fair market value of your contribution—increasing your impact at less cost to you.
  • It only takes a few minutes. After you provide some details about the assets you wish to transfer, you can either print and mail your forms, or donate electronically—whichever you’re comfortable with.

Every day, we see the positive impact donors like you make on children’s lives. Because of the support of our community, we continue to search for revolutionary cures and offer life-changing treatments. We offer special programs fully or partially funded by philanthropy, including animal-assisted therapy, music and art therapies. These services are imperative to a child’s healing, and our young patients cherish them—especially during the holiday season.

We know this year has been a challenge in the economy and the financial markets. However, donating stocks you have held for a while that have a low-cost basis can be a great way to rebalance your portfolio and bring hope to children.
